Get the Edge More for your Money, More for your Body, More for your Brain The Café Services team in partnership with the Lebanon SAU and HEAL are working hard to educate and energize students to Eat Smart, Get Out and Be Active. HEAL (The Upper Valley Healthy Eating Active Living Partnership), links and supports community members and organizations working together to build a community that embraces healthy lifelong habits of 4-season physical activity and good nutrition. This partnership wants students to “Get the Edge”; the campaign is focused on making healthy food choices and educates students that balanced meals and smart choices will help them “get the edge” in academics, athletics, extra- curricular activities, and life in general. “Getting the Edge” with their school lunch also helps students save money as a complete, balanced meal saves money over choosing à la carte items. Food items are color coded: yellow=whole grains, red=fruits, green=vegetables, blue=low-fat milk and brown=meat, nuts, soy, peas or beans. When students pick foods from at least 3 color codes they get the complete lunch discount!
